Going to

O going to é usado para expressar planos, intenções ou algo já planejado no futuro em inglês. Por exemplo, ‘I am going to start my English classes next week’ (Eu vou começar minhas aulas de inglês na semana que vem).

A estrutura do going to é bem tranquila, veja abaixo as formas afirmativa, negativa e interrogativa:

Affirmative form

Na forma afirmativa, vamos precisar do sujeito + verbo to be (auxiliar) + going to + complemento:

I am going to buy a car. Eu vou comprar um carro.
You are going to study abroad.Você vai estudar fora.
He is going to visit his friends.Ele vai visitar os amigos dele.
She is going to travel next month.Ela vai viajar no próximo mês.
It is going to rain today.Vai chover hoje.
We are going to help our parents.Nós vamos ajudar nossos pais.
They are going to paint their house.Eles vão pintar a casa deles.
A abreviação de going to ‘gonna’ é bastante usada em contextos informais.
Ex: I am gonna travel next year.
She is gonna help them.

Negative form

Na forma negativa, vamos precisar do sujeito + verbo to be (auxiliar) + not + going to + complemento:

I am not going to buy a car. Eu não vou comprar um carro.
You are not going to study abroad.Você não vai estudar fora.
He is not going to visit his friends.Ele não vai visitar os amigos dele.
She is not going to travel next month.Ela não vai viajar no próximo mês.
It is not going to rain today.Não vai chover hoje.
We are not going to help our parents.Nós não vamos ajudar nossos pais.
They are not going to paint their house.Eles não vão pintar a casa deles.

Lembrando que podemos usar as contrações do verb to be:

  • are not = aren’t
  • is not = isn’t

Interrogative form

Na forma interrogativa é necessário inverter a estrutura: verbo to be (auxiliar) + sujeito + going to + complemento + ?. Quando for usar o wh questions (what, who, where, when, how) eles vão ficar no início da frases, ou seja, antes do verbo to be.

What am I going to buy?O que eu vou comprar?
Are you going to study abroad?Você vai estudar fora?
When is he going to visit his friends?Quando ele vai visitar os amigos dele?
Where is she going to travel next month?Para onde ela vai viajar no próximo mês?
Is it going to rain today?Vai chover hoje?
